Gum recession is a common condition, referring to the loss of gum tissue around one or many teeth. It is commonly caused by gum disease, but a number of factors can contribute to its development. Although it may seem harmless, if left untreated gum recession can lead to infection (gum disease), tooth loss, bone loss, and sensitive teeth.

Dr. Delaram Hanookai offers traditional surgical and modern non-surgical treatment options, depending on your individual needs. Dr. Hanookai is a master of conventional gum grafting treatment, and to provide a more comfortable and convenient experience for patients she has also adopted a minimally-invasive treatment solution, the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique.

Gum Grafting

A gum grafting surgical procedure involves taking gum tissue from another area in your mouth like the palate, or from a donor, to cover the exposed root and tooth areas. This proven method of treatment can help restore the gum line and reduce sensitivity. Additional benefits of gum grafting include:

  • Even Gum Line
  • Improved Gum Health
  • Improved Appearance
  • Reduced Sensitivity
  • Treat Multiple Teeth at Once

Take advantage of certified sedation dentistry for a more comfortable experience at your next appointment.

Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique

Dr. Hanookai is also trained in the minimally-invasive Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST™). Unlike gum grafting, PST does not involve making large incisions in the gums, rather, a special tool is used to gently move the gum tissue to a more desirable position. Many patients choose this treatment option for these reasons:

  • Minimally-Invasive
  • Minimally Painful
  • Reduced Recovery Time
  • No Sutures Required
  • Treat Multiple Teeth at Once

CATHERINE’S REVIEW

I’ve been a client for 6 years. PST® is a gum recession procedure that is not invasive at all really. They don’t stitch anything, I didn’t feel any pain because I was under IV sedation. My gums are back to where they should be, and I am so happy with Drs. Abaian and Hanookai!
